Backflip Studios announced Transformers: Earth Wars, a free-to-play strategy game for Android and iOS, will arrive this Spring. Transformers: Earth Wars is developed by Space Ape Games in collaboration with Hasbro .
Choose your team of Autobots to save Earth, or lead the Decepticons to ravage the planet’s natural resources to steal all the Energon instead. You’ll have to build yourself a secure base first. Then the goal is simple: defeat other players and raid their bases for Energon.
“Assemble the ultimate team of legendary Transformers robots- including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Soundwave, Starscream & many more,” reads the official Transformers: Earth Wars game description . “Will you join forces with the Decepticons or ally with the Autobots? Choose your side! Build an impenetrable base. Wage war against the opposing faction by defeating other players and raiding their bases for energon stockpiles. Construct a Space Bridge to summon reinforcements from Cybertron. Deploy Starscream for air strikes to destroy laser cannons, penetrate defenses with an Optimus Prime ram attack, or repair your team with the healing ability of Autobot Ratchet.
Earth Wars features 3D animation and live interaction with players across the world, but you will have to chose a side: The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, or the Decepticons, led by Megatron.
IGN reports the art in Transformers: Earth Wars is based on the Transformers Generations Prime Wars trilogy series. Transformers Comic writer Simon Furman reportedly wrote the dialogue in which Optimus Prime and Megatron’s original voices, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, are featured.
This combat strategy game is free with in-app purchases. You will need an internet connection to play since you’ll be joining players from across the world. Earth Wars is expected to make a global release. However, it won’t be available in China or Japan come Spring.
