Season 2 of Tribes of Midgard is just around the corner. Titled "Serpent Saga," it arrives as a free update on December 14. It’s going to add interesting content like a new Season Track and new Saga Boss. There’s even a new Open Seas biome plus many weapons and armors.
In a statement, Norsfell CEO and Creative Director Julian Maroda revealed that their plan for the game is to make it the ultimate Viking sandbox. He added that Season 2 continues that journey and makes changes to the world.
Key features of the Serpent Saga are:
- A New Saga Boss
- There’s a new mysterious but powerful beast of myth that players need to defeat before Fimbulwinter.
- Go to the season to find and unlock its Lair. Beat the beast to stop Ragnarök.
- Shipyard
- Located just right outside the village on an Ash Beach biome, the Shipyard needs to be rebuilt just like the Quarry, Farm, and Lumberyard.
- Once rebuilt, resources can be used to craft Boat kits to take the seas.
- There are different tiers of boats and players can choose the right boat to fit their playstyle.
- Smaller boats may be flimsier but they are nimbler and need fewer materials.
- Larger boats can be unlocked by leveling up the Shipyard. They can hold more players, travel faster, and have more HP. However, they cost more resources.
- Boats
- Vikings can now sail the seven seas by building and constructing Boats crafted in the Shipyard.
- Boats can be placed and built through the Construction Inventory and only in the Open Seas like off a coastline, shore, or cliff.
- It’s not possible to do them in rivers or ponds.
- Swimming
- Vikings can now swim.
- This is limited by the Stamina gauge of the Viking.
- Exploration
- Explore the Open Seas and access uncharted islands off the shores of Midgard to find Merchants and new Beacon Camps filled with turrets and brand new enemies.
- The expanded map lets players discover new lands full of resources, enemies, and loot.
