There are very few monitors that have both a 240 Hz refresh rate and IPS color quality. Acer is increasing that small list with two of its monitors. One is the 24.5-inch Predator XB253QGX and the other is the 27-inch Predator XB273GX.
The specifications of both are almost identical. These two monitors support a 1ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response rate. Both of them also have 178 degree vertical and horizontal viewing angles. That said, apart from the screen size of the monitor, there are some differences. While the 24.5-inch model has 400 nits standard for Brightness, the 27-inch, on the other hand, has 350 nits standard. You can read the specification of both monitors below:
24.5-inch model:
- Panel—24.5-inch IPS
- Resolution—1920x1080
- Refresh rate—240Hz
- Response time—1ms gray-to-gray (GtG), 0.5ms via OverDrive
- Color gamut—99 percent sRGB
- Brightness—400 nits standard, 400 nits HDR
- Viewing angles—178 degrees vertical and horizontal
27-inch model:
- Panel—27-inch IPS
- Resolution—1920x1080
- Refresh rate—240Hz
- Response time—1ms gray-to-gray (GtG), 0.5ms via OverDrive
- Color gamut—99 percent sRGB
- Brightness—350 nits standard, 400 nits HDR
- Viewing angles—178 degrees vertical and horizontal
These monitors are a good choice for Nvidia graphic card users as both of them are G-Sync Certified. They also have a DisplayPort 1.2a input and two HDMI 2.0b inputs along with a 3.5mm audio output. There are up to four USB 3.0 ports as well. There is one drawback though, at least for some users. Both of these monitors only support 1080p. In a time where several gamers are shifting toward 1440p monitors, this might be a deal-breaker for some potential buyers. However, trying to keep 240 FPS with 1440p on even most optimized games is no easy task.
It’s been known in the industry that if you prefer low latency and higher frame rate then you should go for TN panel monitors. And if you care more about better color reproduction then IPS monitors are the one for you. It’s nice to see that gamers might not have to make such a hard choice again.
So what do you think? Are you interested in these two monitors? Do you prefer the 24.5-inch variant or the 27-inch one? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
