Ubisoft announced that beginning on October 29, all of its in-game services, activities, and communities on all platforms are going to be placed in one home, which is going to be Ubisoft Connect. What this means is that Uplay and Ubisoft Club are going to be refreshed, expanded, and then merged into this new service.
Ubisoft Connect has been designed with the next generation of gaming in mind. For Ubisoft, however, it’s just the start of its commitment into making sure that the future standard of games is going to be cross-platform. This includes, for example, cross-platform progression on games like Riders Republic, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Once launched, the interface for Ubisoft Connect is going to be combined seamlessly into Ubisoft games across all platforms. This should bring the challenges, activities, in-game rewards, and social features, all into one area. This new service not only brings with it all the functionality offered by Uplay and Ubisoft Club, but also adds some exciting new features like the dedicated newsfeed which allows players to see what activities their friends are doing and their achievements.
There is also going to be a new “Smart Intel” feature which brings with it personalized tips and video recommendations based on the current in-game activities of the player. This is good news for those who may want to know how to improve their Rainbow Six Siege skills or learn how to recruit a beekeeper in Watch Dogs: Legion.
This new service is also going to give players some personalized stats and playstyle information so that they can monitor their progress or compare it with friends using the new leaderboard system.
In a post, Vice President of Online Services Stephanie Perotti shared that next-generation of gaming isn’t just about having better graphics or technological improvements. Perotti said that as a publisher and creator, Ubisoft is all “about bringing more fluidity and versatility to the experience, to have the freedom to play games on whatever device and with whoever you want.” The Ubisoft Connect, Perotti revealed, is their very own take "on a new seamless experience to not only ease the transition between generations and platforms, but also be the starting point for new services that further contribute to new, more player-centric ways of enjoying games."
To celebrate the launch of Ubisoft Connect, at least 1,000 legacy Ubisoft Club rewards are going to be unlocked today for free to all players. Ubisoft Connect is officially launching to the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on November 10. It’s also going to be available on the same date for the Xbox Series X/S. The PlayStation 5 version is set to be released on November 15. The service is also going to be available for Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna, and to be launched later this year on these platforms.
