Publisher Rayark and developer Archpray have just announced that their hit side-scrolling action platformer MO: Astray will soon be launching for the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop. In a press release, Archpray producer Ching-Yi Hou said that “MO’s adventure is a bizarre, alien experience overflowing with mysteries to solve and trials to overcome.”
Hou added, “Our team is overjoyed by the positive reception of the game and we’re looking forward to welcoming new explorers into our strange world when MO: Astray makes the jump onto Nintendo Switch on September 10!” The action adventure indie platformer was originally released almost a year ago for the PC via Steam and has since enjoyed positive critical reception.
For those who are not familiar with the title, MO: Astray puts players in the position of the titular character MO: a mysterious life form who awakens in an abandoned laboratory “teeming with otherworldly creatures and deadly traps.” MO then sets out on a journey, only guided by the voices in their head, that will take them across hostile environments overrun by parasitic alien plants, a malevolent supercomputer, and more dangers. Soon enough, MO discovers the truth behind the disaster they have awakened to by absorbing memories from the various enemies they encounter.
Gameplay-wise, MO: Astray plays out like any other platformer with the sole exception of players being able to climb and stick to walls and ceiling, utilizing MO’s jelly-like body, and then propelling themselves on to the next platform to traverse the environment. Players can also take advantage of several offensive skills in their arsenal such as dash attacks, which are useful when being pressured by enemies. As for its aesthetics, MO: Astray can be easily recognized through its vividly colored environments and pixel styled approach for its art style. Don’t let this fool you, though, as MO: Astray is easily one of the most overlooked platformers right now.
MO: Astray will be launching for the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop on September 10 for $14.99. Pre-orders will begin on August 27 and will come with a limited time 10 percent discount. The game will also support English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Korean language options.
