A Look Back
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth was first released on PlayStation Portable in 2006, an enhanced port of Valkyrie Profile made available in North America in 2000.
The game follows Valkyrie Lenneth as she travels across Midgard. As a Valkyrie, she collects the souls of slain heroes to serve either as einherjar or her personal companions for Ragnarok. She then trains them by fighting monsters and performing additional quests. As she goes on her journeys, she learns more about her original life as a human, which was removed from her memory when she became a Valkyrie.
This RPG is divided into eight chapters with each having different quests, dungeons, and items. Each chapter is split into periods with the number depending on the level of difficulty. Periods are used up when Lenneth visits towns, goes into dungeons, and recruits einherjar. Once the periods in the chapter are done, it is when the Sacred Phase starts. Here, Lenneth goes back to Asgard where Freya updates her on the status of the war.
New Titles
Valkyrie Profile was a success critically and commercially. Since then, more titles have been added to the series, with the latest being Valkyrie Elysium, released on PlayStation in October 2022 and then on PC in November 2022.
In Valkyrie Elysium, a young Valkyrie has been entrusted by the All-Father with the fate of the world. She's expected to face a lot of enemies during her quest, and to survive, she needs to use different weapons, magic, and even the power of her allies. All of this to prevent Ragnarok or the end of the world.
Valkyrie Elysium moves the franchise forward in a fresh and new direction.
