The narrative-driven roguelite Vambrace: Cold Soul will soon be making its way to consoles, as announced by developer Devespresso Games and publishers Headup Games and Chorus Worldwide. It will launch first for the Xbox One on August 28, followed by the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch the next day.
The turn-based and incredibly challenging roguelite first released for the PC via Steam back in May 28. It has held a mixed reception, although weirdly enough you’ll find that most of the complaints directed towards are because it isn’t anything like Darkest Dungeon, another challenging turn-based roguelite with a similar art style. Check out a trailer for Vambrace: Cold Soul below.
You can clearly see where people are coming from when people say that the art style and overall feel is reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon. That said, when it released, there were a lot of sentiments made with regards to how the game plays differently from Darkest Dungeon, which could lead to disappointment from people who were expecting otherwise.
Vambrace: Cold Soul is Devespresso Games’ follow-up title to The Coma: Recut, representing a major departure from the survival-horror title that placed the studio on the map. The game focuses on deep turn-based strategy set in a gothic horror tale from the minds of Minho Kim and T.L. Riven. It features multi-class party building mechanics, punishing roguelike expeditions, and an immersive story with high replayability.
The game sees you take on the role of Evelia Lyric as she embarks on several expeditions that will test your worth as a leader. Players are able to recruit several members to their team before departing on unique adventures, with each individual bringing unique strengths and abilities to the party. Vambrace: Cold Soul also includes an in-depth crafting system for players to immerse themselves in.
The console versions of Vambrace: Cold Soul will come with the many improvements and changes made by the developers, all tailored to player feedback. Check out the list of changes below to see if Vambrace: Cold Soul is worth the purchase in its current state.
