The shocking dismissal of Brian Mitsoda, the narrative lead for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, led fans to question the fate of the franchise. At this critical moment, developer Draw Distance has announced the release date for Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York to lift the mood. Fans can begin stalking the undead underworld of New York through the visual novel that releases on September 10 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Shadows of New York isn't exactly a sequel to Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York, which released last year. The upcoming game is said to be an expansion to Coteries. Draw Distance has stated that Shadows of New York will have a more personal story touch compared to the exploration-heavy Coteries of New York.
In Shadows of New York, the player will assume the role of Julia, a Lasombra clan member who is seeking to rise in the ranks of Vampire society. The game will place the players deep within the world's lore and political machinations, with the latter element playing a major role in driving choices.
Shadows of New York and Bloodlines 2 aren't the only Vampire games that players can look forward to. Another Vampire Masquerade game, called The Masquerade - Swansong, was also announced during the Nacon Connect digital event last month. Swansong is scheduled to launch in 2021. Swansong will also feel similar to the upcoming Shadows of New York, with a deep focus on narrative elements that delve deep into the world of Vampire.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York is releasing on September 10 for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
