Season 3 of The Walking Dead game from Telltale will tie in more closely with the comics, according to The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. Apparently, Clementine will also be making an appearance. In a video interview with IGN , Kirkman said:
“The way that the timeline works, Season 3 will actually be getting pretty close to where we are in the comics currently – the books that are coming out now are roughly in the same timeframe that Season 3 will be in.
“There’s a lot of really cool, really exciting things coming that I don’t think people will expect. We’ll be checking in on Clementine again, so we’ll be seeing her, we’ll be seeing where she’s at, what’s going on with her, which is gonna be great.
“But also, similar to the Michonne series, I think there will probably be some more comic book elements that’ll be working in some interesting ways. I don’t wanna reveal too much, but [it] will definitely go hand-in-hand with the comic a little bit more than Season 2 did.”
Since the new season will be closer to the current comic book timeline, we know that not only will Clementine be back, she will probably be older than when we last saw her. Additionally, this interview implies that our introduction to Clementine took place at the beginning of the apocalypse, and her Season 3 appearance should take place after the “ All Out War ” comic book event. This means Season 3 of The Walking Dead game should take place about five years after the apocalypse, making Clementine a teenager.
Whether or not her trust in others is fatally wounded or whether she has reached any survivor colonies is up for debate until we actually see her in Season 3, of course.
The full interview focuses on The Walking Dead: Michonne and Kirkman’s enthusiasm for Telltale’s exploration of a story the comics left untold. The third and last episode of The Walking Dead: MIchonne releases this week.
