Maggie’s pregnancy changes everything for Glenn in The Walking Dead season 6, according to Steven Yeun. The actor spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his character’s story arc and learning Maggie was expecting their first child. Yeun explained everything Glenn did in the first half of the season was for his unborn child, including convincing Enid to go back to Alexandria with him.
Yeun was surprised to learn some fans thought Glenn didn’t know about Maggie’s pregnancy. The Walking Dead actor told Entertainment Weekly Maggie would never keep something like that from Glenn. The rest of The Walking Dead season 6 will show Glenn and Maggie living for their child.
“Everything Glenn does is because of the kid that’s on the way, be it down to even saving Enid, even pressing her to come back with him,” Yeun said. “You know, why would he do that? And he mentions Maggie and he mentions that she would have done it, and then he mentions that he is doing it for himself. But I think, ultimately, what he’s trying to get at is that he’s trying to build a world for his kid that can be as close to what he grew up in as possible, that can have hope to be some sort of secured, stable environment.”
Glenn may want a secure environment for his child, but there might be circumstances he can’t foresee that will make it difficult for that happen. Daryl actor Norman Reedus recently told Empire (via ComicBook ) the group will confront the new villain Negan some time in the second half of the season.
"There's going to be a fight. I won't tell you who, when, and where, but I can promise you a fight," Reedus told Empire. "All of us are about to clash with that motherf**ker. There's a lot of turmoil in the second half of Season 6."
The Walking Dead season 6 returns at 9 p.m. Feb. 14 on AMC.
