The Walking Dead Season 6 has shown a different side of Morgan, one that hasn’t sat well with Rick. In episode 13, we saw Morgan building something in Alexandria, and it’s something Rick might appreciate later.
The Walking Dead Director and Special Effects Makeup Designer Greg Nicotero recently confirmed to Yahoo what Morgan was crafting in the basement. Turns out, Morgan is building a cell for Alexandria.
“He’s building a cell,” Nicotero told Yahoo. “The jail cell that they had wasn’t necessarily much of a jail cell. It was like a little room with a little metal gate. I think Morgan is committed to the next time they have somebody in there, if they need to, they’ll attempt to rehabilitate them. He wants to be equipped. It goes back to his story with Eastman. Let’s be honest, Jesus didn’t last very long in that place. It can’t be that secure.”
Morgan building a cell makes sense. Right now, Rick and the rest of Alexandria believe the only way to deal with Negan and The Saviors is to kill them. However, they will soon learn that killing people isn’t as easy as killing walkers. Morgan’s “no killing” rule might be the better approach.
Unfortunately, Rick won’t listen to Morgan. The Wolves attack Alexandria before they even knew they were a threat. Morgan will need to slowly bring Rick out of the darkness, and show him the world doesn’t have the world doesn’t have to be so brutal.
