Maggie and Glenn’s reunion in The Walking Dead season 6 won’t be the happy one they deserve, according to actress Lauren Cohan. Cohan recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming season, set to preimere on Feb. 14 on AMC.
When The Walking Dead left off on the midseason finale, Maggie saw green balloons in the sky and assumed they were a sign from Glenn telling her he’s okay. Unfortunately, a tower fell on Alexandria’s walls, opening them to a horde of walkers, before the two were able to reunite.
“The reunion is going to be somewhat overshadowed by a lot of other darkness,” Cohan told Entertainment Weekly . “I think I can say that much. Because they have found each other and just in time to sort of help everybody else in this huge battle that’s continuing. They’re completely underwater right now. We’ve had both of them at the absolute cliff edge of danger and death.”
Glenn witnessed the tower falling on Alexandria’s walls from outside of the community and desperately tried to find a way to get back. This means Maggie will likely see Glenn in the distance as the walkers try to reach her. To make matters worse, Maggie is pregnant with their first child and now has another life to think about before her own. Or Glenn’s.
Whether Maggie or Glenn will make it past The Walking Dead season 6 return is unknown, but Norman Reedus stated in the show’s latest teaser not everyone will make it to the end of the season.
“There’s some large things that happen to us in the back half and we don’t all survive and we don’t all take it very well,” Reedus, who plays Daryl on The Walking Dead , said in the teaser.
