The leader of the Hilltop Community will reportedly make an appearance in The Walking Dead season 6.
TVLine reports fans will see actor Xander Berkeley play Gregory when the season returns in February. Berkeley’s name might look familiar to some hardcore fans. Berkeley was allegedly up for the role of Negan, but the part of the infamous villain went to Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The Hilltop community is a pretty big and well-established. They’ve set up farms and raise animals in their gated community. They even have a center for commerce and people who can teach other their trade. It’s a place Rick wants to build for his family and crew.
So who is Gregory? First, Gregory is the reason Jesus (Tom Payne) approaches Rick and his crew. Gregory asks Jesus to reach out to Rick for help taking down Negan. In The Walking Dead comics, Gregory is afraid Negan will attack his community if he stands up to him, so he asks Jesus to find a third party to take care of him.
Gregory is pretty spineless and a huge creep. A pregnant Maggie and her adopted daughter Sophia move to Hilltop after Glenn’s death. At one point, Gregory barges in on Maggie while she’s being examined by a doctor just to check her out in her underwear.
Without going into too much detail, the Hilltop community eventually turns on Gregory and choose Maggie to be their new leader. The shift in power infuriates Gregory and he goes out of his way to make Maggie appear incompetent.
The Walking Dead season 6 returns Feb. 14 on AMC.
