The Walking Dead Season 7 promoted Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Tom Payne, Austin Amelio and Xander Berkeley to series regulars, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise as their characters Negan, Jesus, Dwight and Gregory are all alive during this part of The Walking Dead comics. The show has entered All-Out war territory and each character has a part to play in taking down The Saviors.
We may also see new characters from The Walking Dead comic books in Season 7 as well. Carol and Morgan encountered another group at the end of Season 6 called The Kingdom, which is where Ezekiel rules. Ezekiel is a good leader with a pet tiger, and was Michonne’s love interest for a brief period. It’s unlikely Ezekiel and Michonne will be involved with the Rick romance, but he’s still a fan-favorite character.
At this point in the comics, Rick is very much cooperative with Negan after Glenn’s death. Rick knows Negan’s community outnumbers his, so he takes his time plotting his next move. Meanwhile the tension between Rick and Carl grows, especially when Carl wants to immediately retaliate against Negan.
The Walking Dead Season 6 ended on a huge cliffhanger, with Negan beating a character to death with his baseball bat Lucille. We don’t know who Negan killed, but the showrunners have assured fans they will know who died when the season returns. Many believe the show killed off Glenn, who hasn’t been spotted filming on The Walking Dead set.
Find out who Negan killed when the The Walking Dead Season 7 returns to AMC this October.
