We've known the day will come for some time now, we just don't know who will die. Ever since the gripping Season 6 finale, fans of The Walking Dead are desperately praying their favorites do not meet the business end of Negan's bat, Lucille. We won't know for certain until The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres on Oct. 23, but actor Ross Marquand, who plays Alexandria resident, Aaron, shared gripping details in an interview with PopSugar:
"Everyone is expecting it to be devastating, and it is. It’s a rough, rough exit, you know? That being said, I think it’s a great episode, too. I think it’s an episode that people will watch and talk about for years to come, honestly.”
There are 11 possible victims in total: Michonne, Rick, Carl, Daryl, Abraham, Sasha, Rosita, Aaron, Eugene, Maggie and Glenn. Fans that have read The Walking Dead comic books will know how it all went down, although the TV show is known to take a different turn from the comic. Marquand obviously knows better than to name the character outright, but what he says next drops a major bombshell:
“It was not fun. None of us were having a great time during those scenes," said Marquand. "For people in the audience, sitting at home on their couches watching it, they’re going to be feeling all the feelings that we felt. It was an absolute loss of someone that we really care a lot about. We say this time and time again, but it’s not just a TV show for us — it’s a family. When you lose a family member, it’s extraordinarily difficult. We felt that death was like losing someone that you really care about.”
It's going to suck no matter what, but "an absolute loss of someone that we really care a lot about" suggests the person that ultimately meets Lucille is likely a veteran character who has been with us for a very, very long time. I'm a Daryl fan and I'm going to have trouble sleeping until The Walking Dead returns for Season 7 on Sunday, Oct. 23, on AMC.
