Norman Reedus was not excited to begin filming The Walking Dead Season 7 this year. The Daryl actor recently admitted to Entertainment Weekly filming the premiere episode was emotionally exhausting for the cast and crew.

For those of you who aren’t caught up on show, The Walking Dead Season 6 finale ended with a huge cliffhanger. Fans watched in horror as Negan killed one of Rick’s friends in front of his entire crew. We don’t know who Negan beat to death with his baseball bat Lucille, but we do know it will change Rick and the dynamic of the group forever.

“It was exhausting, and it was no fun,” Reedus told EW . “You know, we always come back to this show every season, and we’re like, ‘Yeah, let’s get back into it!’ You know, all the actors are excited to be here and see each other and get back into where they were. But this was one of those where it’s like, ‘Oh, f—. Here we go.’ It was definitely not a joyous reunion. I mean, it was nice to see everybody again, of course, but it wasn’t the same as in previous years.”

There are 11 possible Lucille victims: Michonne, Rick, Carl, Daryl, Abraham, Sasha, Rosita, Aaron, Eugene, Maggie and Glenn. At this point, the majority of speculation points to Glenn and Abraham being the chosen ones in Negan’s cruel Eeny Meeny Miny Mo game. Glenn was the one Negan killed in the comic books, but Abraham would be a surprise. Abraham was shot in the head with a crossbow by Dwight, a fate Dr. Denise met on the show.

“It affects the group completely differently,” Reedus told EW about the big Lucille death scene. “You know, everyone, it affects them differently. Some relinquish power. Some accept it. Some fight it. There are people questioning it. There are people pointing their fingers. There are people blaming themselves. Other things happen that completely destroy people. The group is completely broken apart at this point. Negan has come in and completely shaken up everything. Loyalties are broken, belief in one another, belief in ourselves. Each individual is completely broken, and they don’t all handle it the exact same way.”
