AMC released the first image of Negan from The Walking Dead Season 7 sans Lucille victim, even though we’re all waiting for it to be Glenn on the other end of the bat.

Check out Entertainment Weekly ’s exclusive image of Negan below. Seems like AMC is trying to distract us with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s beautiful face to make us forget about the horrible The Walking Dead Season 6 finale. The series ended with one of the dumbest cliffhangers in the history of the show. For those who haven’t watched the episode,it ends with Negan picking someone at random to kill. The camera then cuts to first-person before you can see who Negan chose, and the internet was not happy.

To make things worse, The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple’s response to the outrage regarding the finale was to say the episode was supposed to focus on Rick’s demise, not the Lucille victim. AMC has also gone to great lengths to make sure no one spoils the identity of Negan’s victim.

Still, Negan’s an exciting addition to The Walking Dead cast, no matter which character he kills. Executive Producer Greg Nicotero told EW fans of the show can look forward to some really intense moments with Negan.

“Negan is that kind of guy,” Nicotero told EW . “He’s the kind of guy who imagines himself on stage at a high school production and he loves every second of it. So, I don’t really see a lot of quiet contemplative moments with Negan. I feel like with Negan it’s really going to be about him gesticulating and him sort of relishing in the sound of his own voice while he commands the stage in front of whoever’s alive.”

The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere to AMC this October.
