Rick Grimes won’t be able to bounce back from his first encounter with Negan so easily, and it might be a good thing for the leader of Alexandria.
The Walking Dead Season 7 will pick up right in the moments immediately after the Season 6 finale to reveal who won Negan’s game of Eeny Meeny Miny Mo. No matter who dies in The Walking Dea d Season 7 premiere, it will hit the group harder than anything they’ve experienced thus far, according to a recent interview to Deadline from Director Greg Nicotero.
“I think it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better for our group, and it’s pretty intense,” Nicotero told Deadline. “I mean, the show, we’re sort of opening a new chapter. I mean, it’s really, Rick is now, if you really think about his journey in the comic books, he shares the spotlight with Negan in the comic book. Negan now has some ownership over what the show is about.”
Nicotero continued, “It’s the anticipation and the excitement of new worlds that we’re going to, like the Hilltop, like the Kingdom, like the Sanctuary where Negan lives. Everybody’s putting so much of their heart and soul into it. You know, after directing the premiere episode, I was fucked up for two weeks, you know? I really felt like I dragged a lot of my dearest friends into these really deep, dark places shooting that episode, and it’s been definitely an experience unlike anything that I’ve ever handled before.”
Does anyone else think more than one character will die in The Walking Dead Season 7 finale? It seems like The Walking Dead cast and production are building up the premiere to be especially shocking for fans. Rumor has it there may be more than one death in the series premiere, but who knows at this point? Let’s just rip off the band-aid and melt into a puddle of tears when the time comes.
The Walking Dead Season 7 will premiere Oct. 23 on AMC.
