One scene in The Walking Dead ’s third season made Lauren Cohan question whether she should stay on the series.
Cohan and other The Walking Dead cast members recently visited the Inside the Actor’s Studio to talk about the show. Cohan recalled a particularly grueling day on set while shooting The Walking Dead season 3 where her character Maggie had to deliver Lori’s baby girl Judith. Cohan left the set feeling defeated, emotionally drained and ready to quit the show.
“The script where Maggie has to give the character Lori a C-section to save the baby that becomes baby Judith,” Cohan said. “I go two doors down and I knock on Steven (Yeun)’s door, and I said, ‘I have to leave the show. I don’t think I can do it.’ It affects you so deeply to the core to touch on, to dive into some of this material. And then I realized that’s why I have to do it.”
Unfortunately for Cohan the heavy storylines won’t slow down any time soon. Maggie is currently pregnant and they series is introducing Negan, a new villain who might kill someone important in Rick’s crew. On top of that, Cohan’s The Walking Dead costar Norman Reedus recently told Empire there’s a major fight scene coming featuring Negan.
"There's going to be a fight. I won't tell you who, when, and where, but I can promise you a fight," Reedus told Empire. "All of us are about to clash with that motherf**ker. There's a lot of turmoil in the second half of Season 6."
The Walking Dead season 6 returns to AMC on Feb. 14 at 9 p.m.
