Werewolf: The Apocalypse , a new RPG based on the World of Darkness property, is headed to PC and consoles at some point in the future, the first game developed under a new partnership between Focus Home Interactive and White Wolf Publishing. We don’t have many details on Werewolf: The Apocalypse yet but those familiar with the World of Darkness setting probably have some idea of what to expect when Werewolf makes its digital debut.
Focus Home has confirmed that Cyanide ( Styx , Blood Bowl ) will handle developmental duties for Werewolf: The Apocalypse . We don’t have a name for the game’s protagonist yet; however, today’s announcement confirms he (or she) will be part of the Garou, a warrior class “opposed to urban civilization and supernatural corruption.” The game will be set in the modern era, though we don’t know exactly when, but Focus Home says fans can expect a world in substantial peril when Werewolf: The Apocalypse hits PC and consoles. The press release also included brief statements from White Wolf Publishing CEO Tobias Sjögren and Cédric Lagarrigue, president of Focus Home Interactive.
“We are excited to work on the World of Darkness universe, as this is formidable playground to tell the players a great story. We are also happy to partner with Cyanide Studio in this adventure,” says Lagarrigue. “And we are faithful in their ability to create a game that will please both fans of World of Darkness and newcomers.”
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until a special event on Feb. 1-2, called “le What’s Next de Focus,” to get more information on the upcoming RPG adaptation. In the interim, those interested in learning more about Werewolf: The Apocalypse might want to familiarize themselves with the tabletop RPG that inspired the upcoming game.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
