Saber Interactive is working overtime as it rushes to fix more issues popping up with their latest title World War Z.
It’s been about a month since the co-operative third-person zombie shooter survival title was first released, and it’s gotten some praise and attention for its gameplay mechanics. That said, the game wasn’t perfect during its launch; in my review for the game, I specified how broken the online component was during launch, which might cause its player count to drop rapidly if left unchecked. This is because the primary audience for this title are fans of the co-op zombie shooter genre, which was popularized heavily by Valve’s Left 4 Dead series. Neglecting the multiplayer component of the game could spell disaster, so it would be prudent to look into these connection issues straight away.
To Saber Interactive’s merit, the developers have been hard at work fixing most of the issues found across all platforms. The first of these came with a patch which dropped not two days after the game’s initial launch. The end of April saw the 1.03 version release, offering further stability and matchmaking improvements. Scattered throughout the rest of timeline are small hot fixes and patches which addressed smaller, yet still annoying issues.
In their latest bid to fix the title, Saber has rolled out a quick, but very important hot fix for World War Z, specifically the PC version. This was announced on Saber's Twitter account.
The developers have listed the patch notes for this hotfix on the Focus Home Interactive forums as well.
The World War Z 1.06 patch notes are as follows:
- Fixed issue with friend list not working for some of the players
- Fixed issue with party invites not working if they were sent from inside of the actual game
- Fixed issue with party members not joining party leader’s session some cases
- Fixed UI textures corruption when using Vulkan
The patch will automatically be downloaded through the Epic Games Store client. A bit of patience is required though, as the patch is quite large, amounting to 825MB. The reason for this is most of the files are fixes for the shader cache on Vulkan.
World War Z is now available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Epic Games Store on PC.
