The WWE 2K17 roster continues to expand during the long wait for the game’s mid-October debut, but the latest additions probably won’t be particularly surprising to anyone who still watches WWE programming on a regular basis. But who are the latest confirmed additions, you ask?
The McMahon family.
Now that you’ve had a moment to finish rolling your eyes -- and we sincerely hope it was a good one -- yes, Shane, Stephanie and Vince McMahon have all been confirmed for the WWE 2K17 roster. It isn’t the first time the trio have appeared in a wrestling game. And we’d have to assume it won’t be the last. But the family’s addition to the WWE 2K17 roster does make more sense than it has in quite some time. Both Shane and Stephanie McMahon have been staples of WWE programming for months now. Years, in Stephanie’s case.
Today’s announcements are apparently the first in a series of reveals that will continue for the next five weeks. Each week, we’ll get another batch of names from the WWE 2K17 roster, which we can only hope will be comparable in size to last year’s mammoth list of 165 (w/ DLC) competitors. For now, let’s take a moment review the handful of names already confirmed for the WWE 2K17 roster. Here’s everyone announced so far:
Apollo Crews
Brock Lesnar
Goldberg
Nia Jax
John Cena
Sasha Banks
Shane McMahon
Shinsuke Nakamura
Stephanie McMahon
Ultimate Warrior
Vince McMahon
Unfortunately, we still haven’t seen any gameplay footage from WWE 2K17. Several trailers have been published for the game, including a promotional video for WWE 2K17 NXT Edition. But we’ll have to wait a little while longer to get our first look at gameplay from 2K’s latest wrestling game.
WWE 2K17 is in development for PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The game debuts October 11.
