While we know that the WWE 2K17 roster will feature Goldberg, new wrestlers are set to be announced for this year’s roster. How will they get announced? Through a painting.
WWE’s resident artist, Rob Schamberger, will be at this year’s E3 to paint updates to the WWE 2K17 roster. Camping out at the 2K booth on the show floor, Schamberger will be hard at work producing art that is also gaming news.
Those who will not be in attendance at the E3 showfloor will be able to follow Shamberger’s updates through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
WWE 2K16 was advertised as having the largest roster of any wrestling game ever. While certainly impressive, the roster featured several notable omissions. The biggest mistake was not including the “Four Horsewomen,” four female wrestlers who are breathing new life into the WWE women’s division. Given how Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Bayley are now more popular than before, they are almost certainly guaranteed a spot on the list.
It will also be interesting to see who makes the cut this year given the recent releases of several WWE Superstars. Cody Rhodes will likely not be included, given the fact that he managed to get out of his contract on his own terms. Ryback, on the other hand, seems to be stuck in WWE limbo. This could work out for him, getting his likeness in one more WWE game before his fate with the company is decided.
Other notable names likely not making the WWE 2K17 roster this year include:
Adam Rose
Damien Sandow
Wade Barrett
El Torito
Hornswoggle
Santino Marella
Cameron
Alex Riley
WWE 2K17 is coming to Xbox One and PS4 in October. If history repeats itself, a PC version will be coming in early 2017.
