The new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer sees the next generation of mutants preparing for war. Mystique rallies Professor X’s students to forget what they know and fight for the world.

The X-Men: Apocalypse trailer briefly features Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and Quicksilver fighting Apocalypse’s Horsemen: Angel, Psylocke, Magneto, and Storm. The Four Horsemen believe Apocalypse is the only one who can save mutants from humankind.

Taking Apocalypse down won’t be easy for the young X-Men recruits. It’s unclear why Apocalypse believes it’s time to rebuild the world, but the Four Horsemen make him invincible, especially Psylocke.

Olivia Munn, who plays Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse , explained to Screen Rant back in January the X-Men will have to go through her character before getting to Apocalypse. Psylocke is Apocalypse’s first, and arguably his deadliest, Four Horsemen recruit. However, Psylocke has her weak spots when it comes to Apocalypse.

“[Apocalypse] first meets her and she’s the bodyguard. She’s got this amazing skill and she has zero fear when she goes against him, so he needs her,” Munn told Screen Rant. “What he sees in her is that she is someone who can protect and has no fear and is an amazing fighter and has amazing abilities. She’s doing things because she wants to do them. She’s like, ‘I want to join you. You haven’t fooled me into joining you. I get it, I see what you’re doing, and I want to be part of it.’ In the end, they manipulate her, but it’s always her choice to join it.”

Apocalypse is like a cult leader ready to manipulate anyone to get what he wants. Psylocke thinks she’s immune to his charm, which will likely be her downfall in the end. Let’s hope Mystique and Professor X can get through to Magneto before it’s too late. X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
