Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is one of the big Nintendo Switch releases this holiday season, and a new Nintendo Direct detailed DLC plans and a bunch of features for the upcoming action RPG.
You can watch the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Direct in its entirety below.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 2012 Wii game, and brings a ton of new characters and worlds to explore. During the Direct, Nintendo announced a free update to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will feature a brand new Side Quest that allows players to receive a costume based on Rex, the main protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
The battle system will feel familiar to fans of the first game, with some new expansions and updates. Blades are artificial lifeforms (weapons) that bond with Drivers (weapon wielders). Players can switch between Blades to tackle certain areas or enemies. The strategy of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be deeper than its predecessor, since each Blade will have various abilities in and out of battle. For example, one ability increases the number of items that you can collect, open up new paths and more. Players will battle various kinds of wildlife and Unique Beasts in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. With the Unique Beasts, players will be able to relive these battles to receive additional rewards. It’ll be a good way to grind out items or possibly experience.
A n Expansion Pass for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be available in the Nintendo eShop beginning today, or gamers can pre-order it from select retailers for $29.99. With this pass, players can enjoy DLC as it releases between the launch of the game and fall 2018, starting with quests and support items, and eventually including a challenge Battle Mode where they can face powerful enemies. This DLC will even include an additional adventure with a new side story set in the world of Elysium. Details about individual elements of the Expansion Pass will be released in the future.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will release for Nintendo Switch on Dec. 1.
