Sony is known for its amazing slate of first-party exclusive titles. Even this year, we received several games from PlayStation Studios. Some were re-releases and remakes, like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and The Last of Us Part 1, whereas others were brand-new games like Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, and God of War Ragnarök.
So, what about next year and beyond? The PlayStation owner has mostly stayed silent about the upcoming first-party titles we should expect, yet some major games have been confirmed. Here, we will discuss these titles.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Insomniac has been on a roll for the last half a decade, and in the last few years, the developer has given PS players three major games to enjoy. Yes, we are talking about Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Even after all this, the developer isn’t slowing down with a full-fledged sequel of Spider-Man in development, planned for 2023. Just like Rift Apart, the game will be a PS5-exclusive and won’t be held back by decade-old hardware.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Yep, even this title is being developed by Insomniac Games; superhero developers love to make superhero games. Marvel’s Wolverine is quite far away as it will be released after Spider-Man 2. We do know that the title will be exclusive to PS5. While no release window has been provided, I would expect a 2025 release given the developer’s efficiency, but don’t take my word for it. This is just speculation.
Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores
Okay, I know this is not a new game, but it’s still worth mentioning. Burning Shores is more Horizon -content and we are glad for it. The DLC was announced at The Game Awards 2022 and will be released on April 19. Unlike the base game, the expansion will only be available to PS5.
Horizon Call of the Mountain
Horizon Call of the Mountain is the only VR game on this list. Developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite, the virtual reality game is a launch title for PlayStation VR2, expected to arrive on February 22. Looking at the gorgeous world of Horizon in first-person mode is going to be quite an experience.
