Last week, Adult Swim graced iOS gamers with its newest game offering, Amateur Surgeon 4. While the game is a somewhat of a re-master of the three original games, it brings with it 100 challenging and gruesome levels, featuring a number of unconventional surgery techniques and tools. In the game, players must master the art of using a pizza slicer, staples, vacuum cleaner, syringes and more in hopes of saving their ailing patients’ life. While the game can be a bit gory at moments, it’s a ton of fun and will keep players engaged as they race against the clock to keep patients alive.
The Amateur Surgeon 4 tutorial does a great job of guiding you through the first few levels of the game, but as you progress, you’ll find yourself more and more on your own trying to figure out how to use your rudimentary tool set to successfully complete your operations.
Below, we’ve included walkthroughs for the most challenging levels of Amateur Surgeon 4 we've played so far, starting with Level 7 and moving through Level 25. The tips should help you deal with all kinds of hangups like removing tracking sensors from Eddy the Dog, ridding Horrace d’Obsence of his ant problem andScarlett Throbbing of crabs or figuring out how to complete the Temple Guardian’s unusually complicated operation. 'Amateur Surgeon 4' Walkthrough (Levels 7-25): How To Save Eddy The Dog, Temple Guardian, Horrace d’Obscene, Plus Other Tips And Tricks
Amateur Surgeon Level 7 Walkthrough: Insurance-fraud Claude
This level requires doing the following (use green syringes as needed):
- Remove nails with tongs
- Treat (staple, cauterize, ointment) nail hole and other cuts.
- Scan towards middle of chest and cut
- Remove nail, treat nail hole.
- Vacuum blood spatters.
- Make an incision along the dotted line.
- Pull out the coin, treat wounds.
- Vacuum the blood
- You will scan two more times – left lung, right lung – remove nails, treat cuts, vacuum.
- Close up/treat outer incision to end the level.
Amateur Surgeon Level 9 Walkthrough: Junkyard Guts (Partner Required)
This is the first level using the chainsaw and requires doing the following (use green syringes as needed):
- Make an incision. Once inside use the chainsaw to cut along black, dotted lines.
- Use tongs to pull away the rib cage square, and add a new one. Cauterize yellow lines, apply ointment along green lines
- Vacuum up splatters and start next incision.
- Treat cuts, then pull out all objects from next set of cuts (magnet included). You will have to follow the shape of te magnet with the stapler to close the wound.
- Treat all remaining cuts
- Close the incision.
Amateur Surgeon Level 11 Walkthrough: Eddy The Dog
In this level you’ll use the lighter and vacuum in a different way to remove the tracking sensor chips. Here are the steps for completing Eddy the Dog’s surgery (use green syringes as needed):
- Make an incision. Once inside, use the lighter to burn off the tracking devices.
- Vacuum the fire.
- Pull glass out of cut and treat wound.
- Staple and treat chest wound and make second incision. You will remove electronic chips and treat wounds as before.
- Once back to chest, close and treat wound.
- Use the chainsaw to cut the collar along the dotted black lines and remove the pieces with tongs (there are three parts).
- Vacuum the spatters.
Amateur Surgeon Level 13 Walkthrough: Horrace d’Obscene
In this level, we are introduced to a real challenge – ants! Here’s how to stop and kill the ants and complete Horrace’s surgery.
- Make an incision. Treat cuts on heart.
- A new setoff cuts appear and ant pour out.
- Zap individual ants with the car battery (be careful not to miss or you’ll have to salve the additional burns!).
- Keep an eye on heart rate between zaps and use syringe as needed.
- Optional - Pull out the coin/gem from cut, treat wound and vacuum the spatters (If you don’t want to do this, you can go straight to the incision but your score will be lower).
- Make new incision.
- Zap the hole with battery three times to shut it (This stops any more ants from coming out.)
- Zap queen ant three times to kill it.
- Zap additional ants
- Treat cuts and burns and close up the incision.
Amateur Surgeon Level 15 Walkthrough: Faker Hubris
In this level, we are introduced to yet another new way to use the lighter and tongs. The walkthrough is as follows (use green syringes as needed).
- Defrost the ice using the lighter
- Make upper middle incision. Remove ice and diamond, vacuum blood spatters, treat wounds
- Make upper left incision. Kill the bugs with the car battery.
- Defrost the ice, then use chainsaw to cut along kidney. Remove pieces with tongs and treat with lighter and ointment, and then pick them out with the tongs. Clean up splatters with vacuum.
- Make lower right incision. Defrost ice with lighter.
- Kill bugs with car battery, pick them up with tongs.
- Treat wounds and close incision(s).
Amateur Surgeon Level 21 Walkthrough: Scarlett Throbbing
In this level we’re introduced to crabs – some tricky little critters to kill. Here’s how to get rid of the crabs and complete the level (use green syringes as needed).
- Treat outer wounds and make incision.
- Use the chainsaw to hit the crab. Keep cutting as it moves until it dies. You’ll then have to kill a second one. Once it dies, remove it with the tongs.
- Treat any wounds, vacuum up splatters.
- Make next incision. There will be three crabs to kill. Remove two with tongs and left over claw and other shrapnel in wounds
- Treat wounds, vacuum splatters.
- Close incision to finish.
Amateur Surgeon Level 25 Walkthrough: Temple Guardian
This is probably the weirdest level I’ve encountered and it is even a little buggy on iOS so I would recommend restarting it if you get stuck. The first time I tried it, one of the incisions wouldn’t show up but when I restarted, it did. Here’s how to complete the Temple Guardian surgery:
- Vacuum or pull out the cubes with tongs (vacuum is faster, tongs give your more points)
- Remove all debris from wounds with tongs EXCEPT large metal piece (we’ll return to it later). Vacuum blood and treat wounds.
- Make first incision and pull out small debris from one cut, ignoring large metal debris.
- Vacuum splatters, treat wounds.
- Scan for and make new cut. Remove debris and treat wound.
- Make next incision and use chainsaw to cut out big metal piece and vacuum up blood.
- Chainsaw the pipe, remove two pieces of metal (leave the piece to the far right. Vacuum splatters, treat wounds.
- You will return to the chest. Here, pull out the big piece of metal, treat cuts, vacuum splatters.
- Use incision in head, then chainsaw out the brain. Remove with tongs.
- Chainsaw metal piece and remove with tongs. Treat all wounds and vacuum splatters
- Replace brain with tongs. Use lighter and ointment to secure.
- You will now return to the Temple Guardian’s head. Remove metal piece. Treat wounds, vacuum splatters.
- Make new incision. Remove book with tongs. Chainsaw out and remove the helicopter book, then circular “pull up” control.
- Close up incision to finish.
