The new Tomb Raider game is going to be a single-player narrative-driven adventure, and it continues the story of Lara Croft, the protagonist of the series. This upcoming game is expected to have all the elements that made the franchise one of the most revered in gaming.
In addition, the game is expected to give players the ability to control the confident and multidimensional hero Lara in an environment where exploration and creative pathfinding are rewarded. There are also a lot of mind-bending puzzles to solve and a wide range of enemies to overcome.
Developer Crystal Dynamics is using cutting-edge technology offered by Unreal Engine 5 to bring storytelling to the next level.
In a statement, VP of Amazon Games Christoph Hartmann shared that Tomb Raider remains to be one of the most beloved titles in the history of entertainment. He added that with Amazon Games offering players the highest quality games, they’re honored to be given the chance to work with Crystal Dynamics and the franchise itself. He went on to say that the team is excited about this collaboration, bringing the next chapter of Lara’s story.
Meanwhile, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics Scot Amos revealed that what they’re after is being transformative and they’ve found a team that shares their creative vision, ambitions, and values in Amazon Games. He also said that they’re currently in a position to rewrite what publishing and development collaborations are.
The Tomb Raider franchise has at least 20 video games loved by more than 170 million people worldwide. The series has sold more than 95 million copies since the first game was released in 1996. The latest set is known as the “Survivor Trilogy” which consists of Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015), and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018).
