One of Amazon’s biggest sales of the year is once again upon us, bringing with it deals like no other for thousands of different choices for every kind of gamer there is. Prime Day 2019 will be available from today, July 15, until tomorrow, which is the prime time to take a gander at what you’re missing in your different game collections, be it titles, accessories, and other peripherals.
For this edition, we’ll be taking a look at some of the best deals available on Xbox One games, which is a great source for your next possible adventure on the console. The games listed here are a mix of recent and somewhat older titles, but they’re all games definitely worth the price of admission thanks to this Prime Day sales event. It also offers a nice alternative for players who still prefer physical to digital copies, and if you’re one of those collectors then there’s some very nice deals to be had here.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best titles on sale right now for the Xbox One on Amazon’s Prime Day.
Still my personal game of the year, FromSoftware’s new IP wowed Souls fans and newcomers to their game design with bold combat choices and a story-driven experience set in a realized world, all through the eyes of one of 2019’s coolest-looking protagonists. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is inherently FromSoftware, and although there are parallels to be made here with Dark Souls, this is treading new territory thanks to its advanced and highly intuitive combat system.
In another departure from the series that made them a household name, FromSoftware takes a more expansive approach when it comes to fluidity and freedom of movement, closely mirroring the trade taken by the one-armed wolf; as a shinobi, it’s up to Sekiro to honor his oath in protecting his young lord from various forces, and you do it all in style thanks to the many combat options available at your disposal. If you don’t think that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, lacking the RPG features necessary for replayability, is not worth the full price of admission, then it might be a good pick-up now, especially if you’re a fan of FromSoftware’s game design.
Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition
Wimbledon 2019 has recently concluded with a stunning and explosive finish lead by two of the sport’s greatest players of all time: Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. While Djokovic did emerge victorious to take the coveted cup, fans of Federer can still get their wins in as Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition is now discounted at quite the price, all thanks to Amazon’s Prime Day. Tennis World Tour has always been the absolute go-to for fans of tennis in video games, especially those looking for an experience akin to simulation thanks to its highly realistic setting.
Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition comes with all of the game’s many improvements since its initial release in May 2018, which is just what anyone looking to get into the game needs. The eSPORT mode also makes it triumphant return, giving players both the permanent world ranking system as well as the highly anticipated second season of the Roland-Garros eSeries by BNP Paribas. Tennis World Tour Roland-Garros Edition comes with 34 of the sport’s best players from all the official circuits, including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and many more legends.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Xbox One Standard Edition
With the release of the next Call of Duty title on the horizon, and it being a reimagining of the highly popular Modern Warfare series, is it still worth getting into Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 this late into the game? The answer would be yes, mainly because a lot of the game’s issues have been dealt with now, while still sporting a very active player base and best of all, a lower price tag. You don’t even need to get a Deluxe Edition or any of the sort – the Standard Edition does fine for what it’s supposed to, giving you access to all of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s many exciting multiplayer game modes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 features a myriad of game modes for every fan of the series to enjoy. The tactical and grounded multiplayer offers something new, with a deep focus placed on tactical gameplay fueled by player choice. Like other titles in the series, multiplayer takes center stage, even with the game’s narrative as players explore each Specialist’s role and unique playstyles. The Pick 10 Create-a-Class system also makes a return to form, as well as a Gear category in place to give players complete freedom in designing their own Specialist.
The final installment in the new trilogy of games starring Lara Croft, Shadow of the Tomb Raider ends things on a high note with a set-up still in the air for a potential sequel. It’s worth noting that this is also the title in which the series’ regular developer, Crystal Dynamics, took a backseat and handed off the reigns to Eidos Montreal, another studio under publisher Square Enix. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is action-adventure and puzzle solving at its finest, thanks mostly to the streamlined game mechanics and the massive network of semi-open hubs that serve to fuel your sense of exploration.
Story-wise, Shadow of the Tomb Raider concludes Lara’s rebooted origin story, seeing her travel to the tropical regions of America in a race to stop the paramilitary organization Trinity from taking advantage of a Mayan apocalypse she unwittingly unleashed. Narratively speaking, it’s one of the most developed in the series, showing off a side of Lara’s humanity through her constant hunger for adventure. If you haven’t already, then the Prime Day sale will sweeten that deal for you to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is probably the last Tomb Raider title we’ll see in a while.
Rico’s return is the most explosive one yet, as Just Cause 4 marks a much more serious narrative shift for the series. Despite this, it’s still the crazy open-world action title fans of the series have come to enjoy and love, with some additional elements to challenge players at each and every turn. This special Prime Day offer also extends to the game’s Day One Edition, which gives out several exclusives like the Neon Racer Pack. This pack gives Rico a Neon Racer Wingsuit, a Neon Racer Supercar and a Neon Racer Parachute.
Just Cause 4 features an extreme weather system made possible by the game’s plot driving forward, as Rico seeks answers in the mystery surrounding his father. All the while, he will be helping a rebellion against a high-tech private military organization called the Black Hand, whose home base is located in Solis, a fictional South American country. From here on out, how Rico approaches his missions in each region is entirely up to you.
