Recent reports indicate that the American Horror Story Season 6 cast is still largely unconfirmed ; however, one alumna who won’t be returning is Jessica Lange. The actress announced her departure from the show after Season 4, but has reiterated that she won’t be returning for any subsequent seasons.
Speaking during an interview on The Charlie Rose Show , Lange stated her tenure on American Horror Story is definitively over.
“I had four years with that, four seasons, and each year was a marvelous character. Everything changed from one year to another which made it very interesting to me. But no, I think sometimes you come to the end of something and it has had its natural [end],” she told Rose.
Lange served at the American Horror Story leading lady for its first four seasons; however, after Freak Show, actress, Lady Gaga was introduced as her replacement. Lady Gaga has already been confirmed for Season 6; however, not much is known about what kind of role she will play.
American Horror Story executive producer, Ryan Murphy previously held hopes be could convince Lange to rejoin the cast at some point. But Lange will return to FX in 2017, starring in Murphy’s upcoming project called Feud. The show will similarly take an anthology format, following famous feuds in history. Lange will co-star with Susan Sarandon as Joan Crawford and Bette Davis respectively, actresses who despised each other during filming of the 1962 cult classic film What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
So far, actors confirmed for American Horror Story Season 6 include Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett, Denis O’Hare and Evan Peters. Actor, Finn Wittrock recently detailed that Season 6 of the anthology may have a significantly smaller cast and that he is not yet confirmed for the show.
