Fans may be getting less American Horror Story than they’d like next season, if recent reports are true. Spoiler TV claims the show’s upcoming Season 6 will include only 10 episodes, which would make it the shortest season to date.
The prior five seasons of American Horror Story have had between 12 and 13 episodes. The most recent, Hotel , had 12 episodes and ran from early October 2015 to early January 2016. FX confirmed Tuesday Season 6 of the horror anthology would premiere Sept. 14. There is little to no indication of what a shorter season could mean. Typically, American Horror Story premieres in October. Showrunners have not commented on the AHS premiere date, nor the recent episodes rumor.
So far the only real certainties about American Horror Story Season 6 are its premiere date and a number of confirmed cast members , including Cheyenne Jackson, Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett, Denis O’Hare, Evan Peters, Leslie Jordan and Matt Bomer.
Some publications have speculated about whether the American Horror Story Season 6 theme will remain a surprise until September. The season is expected to delve into two themes; however, rumors early on suggested there could be two seasons of American Horror Story in 2016. Seeing as Hotel ended in January, this coming season could possibly be the second installment.
An early premiere date coupled with a shorter season could equate to Season 6 airing completely in 2016, instead of bleeding into 2017. A reddit user speculated if Season 6 includes 10 episodes, it is possible the climax of the season could coincide with Halloween. Typically the AHS Halloween episodes air early in the season.
It is likely American Horror Story Season 6 is already in filming and production. Actor Evan Peters told People the show would begin filming June 7. Actor Leslie Jordan told the Washington Blade he would begin filming with Lady Gaga July 7.
