The latest season for Apex Legends introduced a number of new things to the game. Season 3 - Meltdown has added a new legend along with a new weapon. There's also going to be a new map for players to battle on.
New Map
With different suspicious setbacks occurring during the reconstruction of Kings Canyon, the Syndicate made the decision to move the game to the cliffside mining city on nearby Talos, known as World's Edge. There is a skyscraper that has been "frozen" by a chemical explosion available for the Legends to explore. Legends can take the train to ice-covered hills making sure to avoid the deadly pits of molten lava.
What this means is that during the entire course of Season 3, the only playable map is going to be World's Edge. This is true for both regular matches and ranked ones. However, as the new season progresses, the team at Apex Legends will look at the feedback, data, and even sentiment of the players to see how to bring Kings Canyon back.
New Legend
The new season brings Crypto to the fight, a cool, calm, and collected Legend. His skills are:
- Tactical Ability: Surveillance Drone
- Deploys an aerial drone that allows Crypt to look at the surrounding area from above.
- If the drone is destroyed, there is a 40-second cooldown before another one can be deployed.
- Passive Ability: Neurolink
- Enemies detected by the Surveillance Drone within 30 meters of Crypto's position are marked for the team to see.
- Ultimate Ability: Drone EMP
- The Surveillance Drone sets off an EMP blast that:
- deals shield damage
- slows enemies
- disables traps

New Weapon
A new season means a new weapon and this time it's the Charge Rifle. This energy rifle takes about a second to warm up and does minor damage to players if you keep a bead on them before it is able to deliver a strong attack to whoever is on the receiving end. The Charge Rifle is going to be part of the standard loot pool and can be found all over the map.
That said, Season 3 also brings with it a new Battle Pass. All those who pick up the Season 3 pass are going to get the Freezer Burn Caustic skin, five Apex Packs, Season 3 Stat Trackers for each Legend, and the Mirage Loading Screen.
The Season 3 Battle Pass is available for 950 Apex Coins. A Battle Pass Bundle is also available for 2,800 Apex Coins. In addition to having the benefits of the standard Battle Pass, it unlocks the next 25 levels and immediately gives you the Iced Out Pathfinder skin.
