Last week, Respawn Entertainment ramped up server capacity for Apex Legends in the hopes of improving game stability. However, players were still getting disconnected after the fact, so the developers went back to the drawing board to somehow fix this problem.
Yesterday, the game’s official Twitter page tweeted that the devs have shipped a client-side patch. Not only does it fix numerous bugs, but it also addresses things that have caused crashes and disconnections.
Before releasing the update, the devs have also received reports that the community has experienced another server issue. However, the developers seemed to have resolved this, as stated in a follow-up tweet.
Aside from fixing the disconnection issues, Update 1.81 has added other important fixes for Rampart. Those who can regenerate ammo for her ultimate, Sheila, by meleeing opponents, will no longer be able to do this.
The devs have also introduced some transition animations for Rampart’s “Problem Solver” heirloom when the weapon is inspected while she is sprinting.
For private matches, the developers have fixed the issue where an error would occur in Arenas when attempting to open the map.
Here are the complete patch notes for Update 1.81 that was deployed yesterday:
- Fixed a crashing error sometimes caused by equipping animated banner poses
- Fixed an error with using a Crafting Replicator ("PoplockFOV called more often than PushLockFOV")
- Fixed being unable to hold to swap from an equipped Red Evo armor to a Gold Armor, if Red Evo armor had more health
- Fixed an exploit that allowed Pathfinder to melee far faster than intended
- Fixed Pathfinder Emote "Old Bot, New Trick" using the wrong icon
- Switch: Fixed "Press Left Stick to toggle Zoom" message displaying in the middle of the weapon sight
- Fixed Bangalore's "Solar Soldier" skin obscuring the screen when ADSing while holding down her tactical ability
- Misc stability fixes, including fixing some errors that can cause disconnections
- Fixed being able to regenerate ammo for Sheila by meleeing
- Fixed players being able to reduce Sheila's bullet spread by crouching
- Added transition animations for Rampart's heirloom when the weapon is inspected while Rampart is sprinting

Apex Legends Update 1.81 is now available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
