Ark: Survival Evolved v255 may be coming to PC Feb. 24, according to the latest patch notes. The update offers four new Dinos, an expanded Tek Tier and much more. Take a look at the expected features below.
Upcoming Version: v255, ETA: Feb. 24
- New Dino: Electrophorus - A carnivorous eel creature that can be tamed to subdue large aquatic creatures [ Dossier]
- New Dino: Microraptor - A small non-avian Carnivore used to take down riders [ Dossier]
- New Dino: Ammonite - Can be harvested in oceans for its shell and bile, but it’s defended by other ocean dwellers [ Dossier]
- New Dino: Thylacoleo - A powerful carnivore that’s rideable and can be used to climb trees. Its abilities make it suitable for ambushes. [ Dossier]
- New Structure: Tek Shield Generator
- New Structure: Tek Tileset & Tek Doors
- Four additional head hairstyles and four additional facial hairstyles, unlockable by acquiring Explorer Notes
- Added option for per-Tribe Dino Tame limit, enabling on Official PvE servers with a max of 400 Dinos Per Tribe (with on-screen indicator of Tribe Dino count)
As for that final bullet, the tribal Dino tame limit has been added to PC to cut back on super-tribes slowing down official servers with massive amounts of tames. A similar limit currently exists on PS4 and Xbox One, but it’s capped at 250 due to hardware limitations. Tribes with more than 400 tames won’t lose what they’ve caught, but they won’t be able to add more Dinos until they’re below the cap.
The other expansions are expected given the addition of hairstyles and the Tek Tier at the end of January. Now that that foundation has been laid, those mechanics are being fleshed out to offer more features for players. Some of the above Dinos were originally planned for the v254 update, so they’ll likely make the cut this time around.
Because the above date is just an estimate, it’s possible it may change slightly. However, given Studio Wildcard’s recent habits, we wouldn’t expect a delay longer than a few days. Especially on PC, the publishing process tends to be much more punctual. We’ll post the final patch notes when the update arrives.
Ark: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux.
