‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers: Black Canary Copycat Takes New Identity As Familiar ‘Young Justice’ Archeress, Artemis

Ollie has a lot of new friends coming his way in Arrow Season 5. Adrian Chase aka THE ‘Vigilante’ has been promoted to Star City’s District Attorney after Black Canary’s death, and considering his name, he’ll probably be running with the night crew. Oliver is taking a reckless ex-marine under his wing, Wild Dog, and fans of the animated series Young Justice may be more familiar with the newest vigilante to join Team Arrow: Artemis. It appears old rumors were true. Madison McLaughlin's character will follow in the footsteps of the Black Canary, and early in Season 5 she’ll be assuming her new identity as Team Arrow’s new Archeress.

In the episode, “Canary Cry,” Evelyn Sharp posed as the Black Canary and sought vengeance on Damien Darhk and Arrow for the death of her parents, though she came to idolize the Black Canary. As Sharp was just about to kill Ruve Adams, Ollie stepped in and reminded her of the Black Canary’s heroic ways.

In the comics, Artemis was an Injustice Society member, following in the footsteps of her villainous parents, Tigress and Sportsmaster. For Young Justice , Artemis was given a more heroic alter ego as the ‘niece’ and sidekick of Green Arrow after Red Arrow went on to fight crime solo. Even though she had a tumultuous relationship with Team Arrow last season, Ollie’s going to need all the help he can get in the wake of Damien Darhk’s terror spree and his new role as Star City Mayor, especially since Dig and Thea have decided to hang up their suits for a bit.

In 'Young Justice,' Artemis falls in love with a blonde, and very annoying, Wally West.
