We previously reported to expect a “cocksure/reckless ex-Marine turned vigilante” in Arrow Season 5. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly , we now know this man’s identity: Wild Dog. Rick Gonzales ( Mr. Robot, Rosewood ) will bring the largely unknown DC Comics character to life. He has a role in multiple episodes and will make his first appearance in the premiere.

Since Team Arrow disbanded in the Season 4 finale, Oliver needs all the help he can get.

Green Arrow probably won’t agree with Wild Dog’s violent, Punisher-style antics. He’ll be forced to take Wild Dog under his wing considering he’s now the Mayor and the rest of Team Arrow (Felicity aside) has left Star City.

Wild Dog, also known as Jack Wheeler, got a full ride to college on a football scholarship but dropped out because of an injury. He soon joined the Marines, but most of his comrades were killed in a deadly bombing. He quit shortly after, but then another tragedy struck when his new girlfriend was shot dead. This is when he took on his alter ego, Wild Dog; By day an auto mechanic, and by night a vigilante. He’s not afraid to kill his enemies and use his military expertise – and did I mention lots of machine guns? – to fight crime.

We’re still waiting on the identity of another mystery character who may or may not be an adversary. A man in his late 20’s to early 30’s, he’s described as an “irrepressibly charming” contemporary of Oliver’s who has also suffered a tragic past, losing someone close to him in a violent event. Now, he’s “a man on a mission” to avenge this personal loss. To do so, he’ll “Just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy — and you never know which one is coming. Either way, he’s more than capable of having a good time as he does it.”

We also have an unnamed villain whose identity is a mystery. Following in Damien Darhk’s footsteps, this big bad is a ruthless crime lord – better yet, an “apex predator” per TV Line. Stephen Amell has confirmed Season 5’s villain won’t have superpowers, so we won’t have to worry about any telekinetic chokeholds. He’s going to be huge in stature, to the likes of Game of Thrones Star Jason Momoa, and remind fans of Stringer Bell of The Wire.

One down, two to go. Check back for our predictions on who these remaining mystery characters could be. Who’s your best guess? Let us know in the comments below!
