EA insider AlmightyDaq claims Battlefield Bad Company 3 will be the follow-up to Battlefield 1. The source leaked correct Battlefield 1 details months before the game’s debut, and now he’s back to tell his subscribers everything he knows about Battlefield 2018.

If his list of details is anything to go by, expect a fairly different experience that capitalizes on many of the things Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 have done right.

  • Game Title: Battlefield Bad Company 3
  • Setting: Mid to post-Vietnam conflict. Cold War affiliations will also be included, and the narrative won’t be completely historically accurate.
  • Game Modes: Conquest, Rush, Operations, Domination, Team Deathmatch and a mode similar to Squad Obliteration from Battlefield 4.
  • Maps: Tight like Bad Company 2. There are designs similar to Oasis and Harvest Day.
  • Gunplay: Vietnam and Cold War-era guns with extensive customization similar to Battlefield 4 with a few minor concessions.
  • Vehicles: Modern tanks, LAVs and helicopters
  • Kits: Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon
  • Microtransactions: They will likely be similar to Battlefield 1 and not Star Wars Battlefront 2. Standard Battlepack purchases for cosmetics.
  • General Feel: It’s faster than Battlefield 1, there’s a higher skill gap and more planned longevity.

Not only does Daq reveal this info to his 1,600 subscribers, but he also suggests that EA has already informed many key content providers in the Battlefield community of this news. AlmightyDaq says he made this video as a counterpoint to those who appear “disingenuous” when playing dumb about where Battlefield 2018 is headed. He also suggests fans can expect an official confirmation of these details around E3 in June.

EA has yet to offer official confirmation of these claims. However, considering Daq has been right in the past, we’re somewhat inclined to believe him again. He’s clearly got good sources inside EA, and, unless those sources have been misinformed, we’re looking at a fairly plausible leak.

Also, if speculation from the Activision camp is to be believed, we could be looking at a clash between two fairly modern-era shooters. Job postings suggest Treyarch may be interested in continuing Modern Warfare, while Bad Company 3 could potentially take players all the way to the ‘80s. There’s just enough there to make each game feel different, and it seems like it will be a hard fight for shooter fans to decide which they like best.

Until those battlelines are drawn, Battlefield 1 must continue its Turning Tides DLC rollout that began Monday and will trickle into the new year. Get your fix of the past while you still can, because we’re possibly setting up for a significant time jump.

Battlefield 1 is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
