Battlefield 1 is getting suited for summer with Summer Missions, and they potentially offer fans a new melee weapon and other top-secret rewards. As seen in a reddit screenshot announcing the missions in the Battlefield 1 companion app, there’s lots at stake for combatants who work together. Below you’ll find the most important part of the announcement:
“Each mission comes with its own amazing Dog Tag reward and a Squad XP Boost for those who complete it. Succeed in all three and there’s an exclusive melee weapon in it for you: the LVC Arditi Knife. You can also expect another reward that we’re keeping secret for now…
“The first Summer Mission is dubbed the Call to Action Mission. Here, your objective is to play, compete and win three full matches of Operations. This mission is active between July 15 and July 23.
“If you complete the mission in time, you’ll get the Call to Action Dog Tag (rewarded on July 31) and a Squad XP Boost (login between July 23 and July 30 to receive this.)”
As those who follow Battlefield 1 closely will know, this Summer Mission event isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Call to Action reward in play. As a matter of fact, the exact same mission was also active between June 10 and June 18 of this year. The June challenge arrived alongside double XP events, Battlepack giveaways and premium map releases. Given the wording of this announcement, it sounds like those who completed it in June may have to do so again to get the melee and secret rewards.
Past developments aside, it would appear that Battlefield 1 players will essentially be tasked with completing one Summer Mission per month from July through September. Those active enough to finish the trio will get maximum rewards and a secret one at the end. Considering dog tags, melee weapons and XP are already part of the equation, our best guess for the secret reward is possibly free Enhanced or Superior Battlepacks . If not, maybe DICE will offer a large purse of Scrap for users to purchase those Battlepacks.
This new Summer Mission concept is just one highlight of a fairly busy season for the game. While eager season pass holders wait for the In The Name Of The Tsar expansion in September , the PC’s Community Test Environment is slowly trickling out DLC maps for polishing purposes. The first map, Lupkow Pass, is expected to go live sometime this week. It’s one of six new multiplayer maps included in the final expansion.
While not quite as detailed or rewarding, these Battlefield 1 Summer Missions appear to be a direct response to the Call Of Duty Days Of Summer event running through August. Spread across three games, players of Activision’s franchise are able to play more maps and unlock special cosmetics in the process.
Battlefield 1 is available now on Xbox One, PC and PS4.
