Users of the one platform (Xbox 360) that’s yet to receive any new Black Ops 3 content finally get access to the game’s first expansion next week, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced on Friday, but there’s still no word on the other Black Ops 3 DLC in development at Treyarch..
Just when it seemed like Activision had closed the book on releasing more Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 content for last-gen consoles, following Awakening’’s PS3 debu t, Hryb announced the upcoming Xbox 360 debut of the first Black Ops 3 expansion. The game’s Awakening DLC first debuted in February, with a month of exclusivity on PlayStation 4, followed by the Eclipse DLC that hit PSN last week . Now, the five map bundle, featuring four new multiplayer environments and a new scenario for Zombies players, is headed to Xbox 360 next Thursday.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a new trailer to commemorate the announcement, screenshots of the Xbox 360 build or even a listing on the Xbox store for that matter. Presumably, the 360 build of Awakening won’t look much different than the PS3 version. But it’s always possible that additional graphical or mechanical concessions were the original reason Activision wasn’t planning to release the first round of Black Ops 3 DLC on Xbox 360 in the first place.
Sadly, there’s still no word on when exactly we can expect the game’s second expansion, to be released outside of the PlayStation ecosystem. The second Black Ops 3 DLC debuted April 19, leading many to believe we’ll see it make the jump to PC and Xbox One in mid-May; however, there’s no telling if we’ll ultimately see Activision and Treyarch change course again and release the second Black Ops 3 expansion on last-gen platforms, too.
Black Ops 3 ’s Awakening DLC is currently available on PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game’s first expansion heads to Xbox 360 on May 5.
