The first details on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s next expansion have been revealed, as part of an hour-long Treyarch live stream, including the add-on’s name (Eclipse) and the four new maps coming to Black Ops 3 later this year.
Treyarch returned to YouTube Gaming on Thursday to reveal the first details on Black Ops 3’s upcoming Eclipse DLC. Just as we expected, the upcoming expansion will include four new multiplayer maps -- the default expansion size for the last several years -- and a new map for Zombies mode. The studio also used its latest live stream to reveal the Eclipse DLC’s first trailer.
As part of the ongoing exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision, Eclipse will debut exclusively on the PlayStation 4. There’s currently no word on a PC and/or Xbox One release date; however, it’s reasonable to assume the expansion will come to other platforms 30 days after its PSN debut. Activision says it currently has no plans to release Eclipse, or any Black Ops 3 content released after the Awakening DLC, on last-gen platforms.
For a closer look at the next chapter of the Black Ops 3 Zombies campaign, take a couple of minutes to watch the new Zetsubou No Shima prologue trailer that debuted on Thursday. Then head down to the comments section and let us know what you think of everything Treyarch had to say during today’s Eclipse reveal.
Black Ops 3’s Eclipse DLC is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The expansion will make its PS4 debut on April 19.
