The first real information on the final Black Ops 3 expansion has finally been released by Activision, less than 48 hours after four teasers for the Salvation DLC hit Twitter, including the usual map descriptions we receive for each new battleground coming to Black Ops 3. Fans were also treated to an extended preview of the final Zombies map coming to BO3.
Less than a week after the name of the final Black Ops 3 expansion was accidentally leaked by the PlayStation Store, Activision and Treyarch are offering up the first significant details on the newly-confirmed Salvation DLC. The first full-length trailer for the upcoming expansion was published to the official Call of Duty channel on YouTube and a press release from the publisher included details on the last four multiplayer maps in the works for Black Ops 3.
Here’s what to expect from the four new battlegrounds coming next month:
Citadel - Once home to a powerful medieval army, this ancient castle now sits broken and abandoned. Tight corners force close-quarters engagements, while the moat and drawbridge allows for unique player movement opportunities in this mid-sized map. The last trespassers didn’t make it out alive – maybe you’ll have a better shot.
Micro - What’s better than a BBQ on a hot summer day? A miniaturised war zone that takes place on a well-stocked family picnic table, that’s what! Navigate this bite-size battlefield for a larger-than-life experience.
Outlaw - Gear up for a showdown in Outlaw; a western-style re-imagining of the fan favourite map Standoff from Black Ops II. This rough-and-tough medium-sized map brings classic engagements, flanking routes and strategic positions for long and medium ranged combat.
Rupture - The Call of Duty: World at War classic Outskirts is re-imagined as a high-tech facility, designed by a futuristic society desperate to repair the Earth’s atmosphere.
As promised, the final expansion for Black Ops 3 will also bring a bit of closure for fans of the original Zombies team (Nikolai Belinski, Tank Dempsey, Takeo Masaki and Edward Richtofen). And we don’t even have to wait until September for our latest sneak peek at the team’s final chapter, thanks to the new “Revelations” prologue trailer published on Friday morning. Here’s the official description for the corresponding map:
Meet up with the Origins characters after they’ve taken an epic journey through space and time – all of their struggles lead to this very moment. In this, the final chapter of the Zombies experience, Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo and Nikolai finally come face to face with the mysterious Doctor Monty in The House. Confronted by an ancient evil, our heroes must fight the zombie horde once more in the final battle to save their immortal souls.
