The Overwatch 2 rumor has long been a thing within the community. Interestingly, a new report suggests that Blizzard is indeed looking into the possibility of developing sequels for its megahit franchises, one of which is a potential Diablo 4.
The comments reportedly came from someone at the studio when they were discussing the massive success of World of Warcraft Classic, a title which has been live since August 26. Of course, this is not necessarily the first time fans have heard about Overwatch 2, let alone the possibility of Blizzard already starting its development.
It was originally reported that the sequel could arrive sometime in June and that it would introduce a couple of PvE elements. But as far as other pieces of information relating to the title, they all remain under wraps.
Other rumors, however, suggest that it could just be a huge update for Overwatch. It can be likened to what Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is doing at Capcom.
Right now, it is hard to tell whether Overwatch 2 is a game. And if it is, Blizzard will likely to make a huge announcement about it. It is also worth noting that a lot of games the studio had tried to develop before did not really see the light of day. So, in a sense, it is possible that this could have been in development already, but it is too early to tell whether an impending release is possible.
In a related report, on the esports side of Overwatch, Team Order proved to be a force to be reckoned with. The only Australian team to play in any international tournaments this year have become the very first team in the region to win back-to-back Contenders seasons. They defeated Mindfreak in a dominating fashion.
Before the match between Mindfreak and Team Order started, a lot of pundits found the former the favorites. It is quite understandable given the fact that Mindfreak has been performing extremely well in today’s DPS-centric meta. Unfortunately for them, Team Order had the upper-hand, displaying a great combination of Hanzo and Symmetra. Mindfreak could not find answers to Team Order’s compositions.
