Zangetsu is coming to BloodStained: Ritual of the Night as a new playable character.

505 Games released a whole lot of news a few hours ago on their official Kickstarter page. One of the most exciting pieces yet is about the second playable character, Zangetsu, voiced by David Hayter. Hayter is best known as the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear series.

Aside from wielding a katana called ‘Zangetsuto’, Zangetsu is equipped with primal elemental talisman magics. Play the role of Zangetsu and slice enemies standing in your way or use your magic to put them all down. Zangetsu allows you to wander around the whole castle in a different way using his hook chain and ‘Zangetsuto’ that is engraved with many secrets that have you to be deciphered.

That’s not all 505 Games revealed in their update, there will also be a third playable character, and the developers said you will never guess who this character will be. Let’s hope that they reveal it soon.

Sadly, there was some logistical difficulties revealed as well. Due to this, BloodStained: Ritual of the Night will not be available in Japan on the promised dates. Despite this unexpected delay, 505 Games reassured everyone that the game will still be released both digitally and physically on all the platforms. They will be announcing the exact dates as soon as they sort things out and everything has been confirmed. The Japanese backers will be receiving Steam keys as a temporary replacement on June 18, so that they can still play the game right away.

As for the international fans, although the release date worldwide will be on June 18 (for PC, PS4, and Xbox One) and June 25 (for Switch), there may be slight differences in the release dates in certain regions.

505 Games also revealed a few stretch goals that were not mentioned last time. This additional content is all available on Day 1 of the launch:

  • Nightmare Mode
  • New Game Plus
  • 8-bit retro level
  • Cheat codes

BloodStained: Ritual of the Night will be coming on June 18 and 25. Nintendo Switch players can grab a copy for $39.99, and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players can get one for $49.99. What do you think about this game? Tell us about it.
