Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay announced a new Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night update coming tomorrow, September 23. This new update features another unexpected crossover with a famed video game, this time around seeing Miriam in the lands of Journey, the hit indie title first released on PlayStation 3 in 2012. The update adds a significant new section to the castle, named “The Tunnels,” alongside new secrets, puzzles, enemies, and more. Check out the official announcement made for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s newest update on Twitter below.
This Journey-inspired area for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night features a new crossover boss, with the Tunnels ripe for Miriam’s thorough exploration. These new areas are large and will require various shard abilities to navigate, so it would appear that there’s a certain level in the game that you need to progress to explore the Tunnels fully.
The entrance to The Tunnels appears after you have freed Gebel and unlocked the main Den of Behemoths area. The room will be marked on the castle map accordingly; per the official post, the entrance itself is not inside the Den of Behemoths, so be sure to check it out thoroughly. Like other additional crossover areas for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, this new one does not affect your map completion percentages or any achievements.
The studio also revealed some bug fixes and game updates to be delivered to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on August 23, including:
- New playable Area for Miriam to explore based on Journey, that game company’s critically acclaimed game, with a unique boss fight and new item for Miriam to equip
- Fixed an issue with save and warp rooms randomizing when option was set to unchanged in Randomizer
- Fixed an issue with a timestamp error on Nintendo Switch version
- Fixed an issue where commands displayed is not updated for the custom controller configuration.
- General bug fixing
Following this update, the development roadmap for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night reveals at least four more new content updates, including Chaos Mode, Vs. Mode, new outfits, and Classic Mode 2.
