Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare will get back two of its most exploited multiplayer maps very soon, as Terminal joins the game’s public rotation. This news arrives via CharlieINTEL and tweets from Infinity Ward multiplayer designer Joe Cerot.
With regard to exploits, one eager Call Of Duty fan sent Cerot a message asking if two highly exploited multiplayer maps, Genesis and Grounded, would return to the game over the next few hours. The man replied with a “yes,” insisting that the revised content is “being worked on now.” Prior to scrapping the arenas, devious players were able to sneak inside both maps and kill unsuspecting opponents. Cheating isn’t welcome online so adjustments were mandatory.
It’s unclear precisely how the patched maps will be re-added. Speculation suggests the fixes could roll out as a larger content update to fix additional bugs, while a simple server-side tweak is also possible. Regardless of launch method, everything is expected to go live very soon.
Also making its large-scale debut in the game’s multiplayer suite is the reworked Terminal map that was first made popular in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Terminal was previously doled out as a pre-order and launch-window bonus, but now it can be played by anyone who decides to hop online. A key change, however, is that the previous 24/7 Terminal playlist has been removed. Instead, the classic map will appear occasionally in the standard rotation.
Alongside classic maps, updated classic modes will eventually have a place in Infinite Warfare too. During this weekend, a special promotion brought Reinforce mode from Call Of Duty: Ghosts into the current installment. That testing phase has since ended, but it’s been confirmed that Reinforce will return after some balance tweaks have been made.
Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare was recently updated with a glitch-focused patch, but, despite the corrections, the game still struggles to maintain the series’ typical multiplayer popularity. A former Activision employee recently suggested that the experience was too “overwhelming.” Regardless, a slate of DLC promises to bring more content to fans that want it. Leaks suggest an initial DLC release date of Jan. 31 on PS4.
Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
