Rumors about the next Call of Duty continue to fill the web this week, following an early leak from Jim Sterling on Tuesday, and it sounds like we have everything but an official guarantee that the next entry in Activision’s military shooter franchise will be Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare .
The latest Call of Duty leak comes via Snapchat (thanks, young people!), where someone with an early supply to a retailer’s stash of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare pre-order cards decided to share a photo of one with the internet. Naturally, given the rumors already swirling about the next Call of Duty , it didn’t take long for the image to spread around the web, eventually landing on news sites like the one you’re reading now. After a few hours, a user even sent a high-res version of the image over to Charlie Intel , a site dedicated to covering the CoD franchise. The game will allegedly debut on November 4 .
Interestingly, the leaked promotional materials for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare also give us some idea of what to expect from at least one of the game’s collector’s editions. If the new images are real, a Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare will also be released on launch day, featuring the usual cornucopia of physical and digital pack-ins. But there’s a slight twist. Apparently, Infinity Ward is planning to include a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare , remastered for current-gen consoles, with all Legacy Edition copies of Infinite Warfare .
Given the amount of information now floating around the web, it’s not clear whether Activision still plans to wait until next week to announce the next Call of Duty or if the publisher will decide to come clean about Infinite Warfare a bit sooner. We’ve reached out to the publisher, hoping for more information on the leaks and/or next entry in the Call of Duty franchise, and will update this post if/when we hear back from somebody at Activision.
