Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 2 will launch tomorrow on all platforms for free. The information was first leaked earlier today by an Xbox profile capture, but now we have an official announcement. The announcement was made via the Call of Duty Twitter account, which also included a short trailer for Season 2. You can check it out below.
Season 2 brings back the iconic Rust map from Modern Warfare 2. This map was last seen 11 years ago and was famous for its fast-paced, close-quarters fights. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare also had a version of Rust called Excess, but it was drastically changed. This one seems rather true to the original. Now, we will be able to settle all of our personal feuds on Rust, just like we used to do in the original.
There’s more in Season 2 as well. Atlas Superstore will join the standard rotation. Zhokov Boneyard, a reimagining of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Campaign map will join the Ground War playlist while the Bazaar map will now be playable on Gunfight playlist. Three more maps, along with new weapons, are expected to drop sometime in Season 2.
The trailer also showed off a new playable Coalition Operator known as Ghost. You might remember him from the Modern Warfare 2 campaign. Ghost was a fan-favorite character in MW2 who wears a skull-clad mask. Now everyone in the game will be running around with Ghost for the next week. A new Battlepass is also coming and will offer up to 80 different items like skins and weapon blueprints. Battlepass owners will have access to Ghost instantly.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 will launch tomorrow, February 11, at 1 p.m. EST.
