Call Of Duty: WW2 is believed to be in development at Sledgehammer Games, and a new blog post from the studio calls the 2017 title the studio’s biggest project yet. Paying homage to Advanced Warfare, the team also teased an incoming reveal.
The blog, posted Friday, focuses mostly on Sledgehammer’s recent building construction. Beyond that, however, there are a few small teases to share. We’ve cut out the best bits for you to read.

This year, we will release our biggest game-making project to date. We are extremely excited to reveal it to the world and to you, our HammerHeads...The game is moving full-speed ahead and so is construction! Pretty soon, we’ll start letting people visit the studio…
We’re not positive, but we believe that last line is from Sledgehammer's previous game, Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Is this nod a way for its creators to say goodbye to their old baby? Is a sequel being teased? Is this just a quote for quote’s sake? Based on the convincing leaks we’ve seen, we’d guess the first and third options are likely.
That being said, it’s somewhat cool to hear that 2017’s Call Of Duty will be “our biggest-game making project to date.” Those words get thrown around a lot by developers, but, if you're excited to see what this year’s premiere military shooter is all about, that probably won’t matter. This is Sledgehammer’s way of telling its fans to get hyped.
That last bit about letting press visit is interesting, and it’d seem to suggest that Call Of Duty: WW2 is nearly ready for its reveal and possibly a media gameplay session. If Activision’s past marketing habits are any indication, the publisher typically aims to have a commercial to air around the time of the NBA Finals. Not only is it a major sporting event watched by millions, but it’s also just close enough to E3 to give gamers a primer for what to expect at the convention. That time is nearly upon us.
According to recent leaks, Call Of Duty: WW2 may release as soon as Nov. 3, 2017. Because that specific title hasn’t been confirmed, take those details with a grain of salt.
