The puzzler Cats in Time is set to arrive on PC via Steam, August 26. The game has players explore 3D dioramas, solve puzzles, and of course, save cats lost in time. For those who can’t wait for the release, it’s already available on Google Play and the App Store.
In a statement, Boris Barbir at Pine Studio revealed that the game is a combination of tactile puzzlers and room escape games but presented in a more casual approach. He added that the PC version offers more stylized visuals and is both fun and relaxing.
In the game, the goal of each level is to find the ten missing cats. It won’t be that simple though since they’re so “purrfect” when it comes to hiding. Players may also need to solve some mechanical puzzles to open boxes, doors, roofs, and cars.
Players also get to see six unique locations set at different ages. For example, they can go from the temples of ancient Egypt to the streets of 90s New York and even to future Tokyo. According to Puzzle Designer Matija Švaco, the biggest challenge in making the game was to design at least 250 places for the cats to hide and make sure that the puzzles were connected to the places.
Unlike the mobile version, the PC version of Cats in Time has more detailed 3D graphics and widescreen support. There are also new controls and some surprises for players. As per the development team, since this is their first-ever self-published game on Steam, they wanted it to be something that old and new players can enjoy.
As an added bonus, Pine Studio’s Boris said that they have partnered with a local cat rescue organization, Real Paw, to help lost cats. He said that they have promised to buy 10 kilograms of cat food for every 100,000 cats saved in the game.
