Publisher PQube has just announced that they will be backing Indonesian developer Studio Namaapa’s role-playing simulation game, titled Ciel Fledge. It’s expected to come to the Nintendo Switch and PC in the fall of 2019.
So, what is Ciel Fledge? It’s a game set in the future after an alien attack, known as Gigant, brought humanity to its knees and to the brink of near extinction. This foreign threat has forced humans to create a habitat in the sky known as ARK-3, a floating city where humans can be safe. One fateful day, a team of explorers discover a young girl in a place where she shouldn’t be. This is where you, her sort of foster mother, comes in.
As an RPG simulation game, your goal is to raise Ciel from a young naïve girl into a capable adult. The way you raise her dictates her personality, skills, and abilities. This requires you to set a daily schedule for her, which involves tasks ranging from the most mundane such as doing her homework, to some that can be game changing, such as choosing how to discipline her. Depending on how you raise her, Ciel (or whatever you name her) will develop her own hobbies, interests and skillsets. This dictates the ending you achieve across a number of multiple possible options. Also, as seen in the trailer, customization options are available for Ciel. You have the ability to choose her clothing, hairstyle, and many more features.
So, first impressions. The artstyle isn't mediocre, but it doesn’t stand out. The premise of a war-torn post-apocalyptic world is interesting for a daughter-raising sim game. It’s exciting to see what Studio Namaapa plans to do with the setting. I’m assuming that the endgame for Ciel Fledge probably involves her battling against the alien invaders, and the way you raise her ultimately will have positive or negative effects on the game’s final confrontation. Then again, this is a very early look involving a 80 second teaser. There’s still time for disappointment, or for pleasant surprises.
Ciel Fledge will be launching soon in Fall 2019 for the Nintendo Switch and PC. Stay tuned for more updates regarding the upcoming RPG sim game.
